Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged doing away with formalism and bureaucracy and encouraged grassroots officials to devote more energy on the front line of the battle against the virus on Monday.
Xi headed the Central Leading Group for Deepening Overall Reform, established in late 2013. The group has had 36 meetings so far to discuss a wide range of issues, including poverty alleviation, healthcare, employment and education, all aimed at improving people's lives.
Xi further expressed the hope that the British side would fill more positive energy into the development of China-Britain relations.
Xi made the comments in a congratulatory message sent to the fair, which began in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Thursday.
