Xi'an aims to build more than six toilets per square kilometer, compared with the country's standard of three toilets per square kilometer. By 2020, the number of public toilets is expected to rise from 2,841 to a little more than 5,000, the Xi'an urban management bureau said.
Xi said 40 years of reform and opening-up have seen consistent efforts in eradicating poverty as part of a gradual process.
Xi said that when he read a letter from 30 senior residents of an elderly care center of the Macao General Neighborhood Unions Association, he remembered meeting with them in Macao 10 years ago. He had visited the city in his capacity as vice-president.
Xi made the remark in a meeting with Papua New Guinean Prime Minister Peter O'Neill at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.

Xi thanked Trump for his greetings and said the successful convening of the two sessions in China will provide a positive impetus for China's development as well as the development of China's relations with countries including the United States.

Xi made the remarks in an interview with Russian media ahead of his departure for the July 3-4 state visit to Russia.
Xi'an in Shaanxi province, Changsha in Hunan province and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province halted housing purchases by companies in designated areas on June 24, 25 and 26 respectively. Other cities including Beijing have launched restrictive policies on companies previously, but this is the first time local authorities have officially put a stop to such trade.
