BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's manufacturing sector continued to grow for the ninth straight month in November, according to a survey by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Tuesday.     The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing sector stood at 55.2 percent in November, unchanged from the previous month, the CFLP said.     It was the ninth straight month that the PMI reading stayed above 50.     A reading of above 50 suggests expansion, while one below 50 indicates contraction. The PMI includes a package of indices that measure economic performance.     Zhang Liqun, a researcher with the Development Research Center of the State Council, said the unchanged PMI index from the month before might suggest a stable recovery of China's economy.     He expected government investment would see gradual reduction, while investment from the private sector might increase. Exports would go up, but not in a drastic rise, he said.     In November, new order index and output index both held steady from figures in the previous month at 58.4 percent and 59.4 percent, respectively, according to the CFLP.     New export order index was 53.6 percent, down by 0.9 percentage points compared to November while purchasing price index rose by 6.5 percentage points to 63.4 percent.     Only three out of the 20 surveyed sectors reported a PMI index reading below 50, which were paper making and printing, oil processing, and beverages making.

BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States would work together for positive results at the Copenhagen summit slated for December this year, Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on Tuesday.     "President Obama and I agreed to expand the China-U.S. cooperation in the fields of climate change, energy and environment," Hu told the press after talks with visiting U.S. President Barack Obama.     China and the United States would cooperate with all sides concerned, on the basis of the "common but differentiated responsibilities" principle and their respective capabilities, to help produce positive results at the Copenhagen summit on climate change, said Hu.     China and the United States have signed documents of cooperation including a memorandum of understanding on enhancing cooperation on climate change, energy and the environment, and have officially launched an initiative on a joint research center on clean energy, he added.

BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday pledged to work with Indonesia to push forward the bilateral strategic partnership.     China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and top political advisor Jia Qinglin made the remarks in separate meetings with Taufik Kiemas, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia. Taufik told Chinese leaders that this showed the importance attached by Indonesia to relations with China.     Indonesia valued the friendly and cooperative ties with China, he said, hoping that the two nations would increase pragmatic cooperation in infrastructure construction and resources exploitation.     He said the People's Consultative Assembly was ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the NPC and the CPPCC to contribute to comprehensive growth of Indonesia-China ties.     Taufik reiterated that his country would firmly stick to the one-China policy.

GENEVA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- China will maintain the stability of its Renminbi (RMB) exchange rate all along, which does good for the world economic recovery, Commerce Minister Chen Deming said on Monday.     China's exchange rate reform has continued smoothly, and the value of RMB has risen by some 20 percent against the U.S. dollar since 2005, Chen told reporters in Geneva, where he is attending a ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization.     Despite the impact of the global financial crisis and all kinds of other difficulties, the Chinese government has actively tried to boost domestic consumption and stimulate imports, Chen said. BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here Tuesday that China and the United States will start preparations as soon as possible for the second round of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) scheduled for next summer in Beijing.     China and the United States will continue implementing the agreements reached at the first round of the dialogue last July in Washington, Hu said in remarks to reporters after talks with visiting U.S. President Barack Obama.     The two leaders spoke positively during the talks of the importance of the strategic and economic dialogue mechanism in strengthening mutual trust and cooperation between the two nations, he said.     Both leaders believed that close high-level contacts and other dialogues and consultations at various levels are essential to the development of bilateral relations, said the Chinese president.     The two sides agreed to keep close communication through visits, phone calls, letters and meetings during multilateral events, Hu said.
