He made the remark in a congratulatory message to the First Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network Forum, which started on Tuesday in Beijing and has drawn nearly 200 representatives from more than 50 countries.
He hopes to use his tried-and-true experience to paint a brighter picture for his peers in Hong Kong to go to the Bay Area and get hands-on experience themselves.

He made the comments during the CF40 Asset Management Forum in Qingdao, Shandong province.
He came here from San Francisco, a place that was much more anti-business than Seattle and got taken over by companies like Twitter and Salesforce.
He noted that solving the refugee crisis requires advancing the political settlement process as well as improving people's livelihoods through development to create the necessary conditions for the return of refugees.

He called on Shanghai to make all-out efforts to advance national strategies such as construction of the Belt and Road and development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and take the lead in promoting high-quality and integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta.
He noted that "research on developed countries showed that when a country's urbanization rate is over 60 percent, it will have a positive impact in increasing GDP per capita. Especially when the urbanization rate reaches around 70 percent, GDP per capita will show exponential growth".
He estimated there are now nearly 10 million registered impoverished workers. "So, it's quite vital for the government to help improve their competitiveness by promoting occupational education," he said.
