The baozi were said to have been fed to dogs.Zi used a home DVD camera to film the entire process and turned in his report after he edited it.Zi hid the truth to the Beijing Television Station, enabling his program to be aired in a slot known as "Transparency" on July 8 at the Live Channel of the station. The program caused baneful social effects and severely ruined the reputation of the relevant commodities, according to the court ruling.Zi pledged guilty at the court and said he was muddled-head at that moment, which cheated Beijing Television Station and the audience.Zi made a sincere apology to the audience, Beijing Television Station and the people concerned. He advised journalistic staff to learn lessons from him and follow obey journalistic ethics.The court held that Zi, as a temporary employee of Beijing Television Station, deliberately fabricated news and hid truth to get his program aired and caused baneful effects. Wu said events have proved, and will continue to prove, that the principle of "one country, two systems" is workable and feasible and the Basic Law is a sound law able to withstand the test of time. He emphasized that Hong Kong must uphold State sovereignty and ensure prosperity and stability while enjoying a high degree of autonomy. The country's trade surplus last month continued its downward trend, with efforts to curb exports paying off and imports rising, authorities said on Friday.Figures from customs authorities showed the trade surplus last month was .49 billion, below December's .7 billion and the record high of .1 billion set in October last year."For the first time since May, the trade surplus is under billion," customs said on its website.Exports rose 26.7 percent from a year earlier to 9.66 billion, while imports rose 27.6 percent to .17 billion, the government agency said. Wuhan -- China's first bank-invested trust company is officially set up in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, on Sunday.The new trust company is held by the Bank of Communications (BOCOM), China's fifth largest lender, and Hubei provincial finance department, which control 85 percent and 15 percent of the total shares respectively.The BOCOM invested 1.2 billion yuan (about US0m) to buy the shares of the Hubei international trust and investment company, the first commercial bank investment in a trust company approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission.Jin Dajian, chairman of the new company named "jiaoyin-guoxin", or BOCOM-International Trust, said the company would focus on "professional wealth management".Jin called the establishment of the new trust company "a breakthrough for China's trust industry", given that the country's law on commercial banks, effective since 1995, did not allow commercial banks to make trust investment.The regulation was not lifted until the end of last year, when the China Banking Regulatory Commission encouraged financial institutions, including commercial banks, to acquire trust companies.The BOCOM, a large state-owned commercial bank, was established in 1908, and the Hubei international trust investment company was founded as a non-banking financial institution under Hubei provincial government in 1981.

BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese commercial banks will be allowed to trade gold futures in the domestic market, according to a notice released on the regulator's official website here on Monday.     China gold futures trading was launched in January, but domestic banks were barred from trading by the China Banking Regulatory Commission.     According to the notice, domestic banks that meet certain requirements, such as having capital adequacy ratio of more than 8percent, can apply for a trading permit.     "That's great news for the gold futures market, which is not operating that well," said Hu Yuyue, an expert with Beijing Technology and Business University.     "Commercial banks can provide more liquidity and stability to the market, after all, they hold huge capital," said Hu.     "Gold futures trading can also help domestic banks to improve competitiveness against overseas banks as financial derivatives are supposed to be the largest revenue sources for leading banks," he said.     Non-interest income usually accounts for at least 50 percent of bank revenues in developed countries and the proportion can reach 80 percent for some banks.     However, Chinese banks depend heavily on the margins between deposits and loans.

SHANGHAI: This city will soon complete its goal of creating a full-time job for at least one member of every out-of-work family, officials said.Shi Juemin, a vice-director of the Shanghai municipal labor and social security bureau, said the city is on target to offer jobs to people who are of legal working age and are able to work."Members of more than 7,100 jobless families in Shanghai have found employment, and the remaining 30 families are on a waiting list," Shi said during an interview on the bureau's online chatting program. "And they will soon have jobs."Shi did not give a deadline.The city's government has launched several job-creation drives since 1997.Neighborhoods have set up their own unemployment databases and offer job ideas to people according to their individual needs. The unemployed will either be given work according to their qualifications or will receive job training.The government has set up training centers, organized job fairs and guided the unemployed into newly created public sector posts such as crossing guards, sanitation workers and parking lot or community security guards.According to a labor bureau report released earlier this year, Shanghai's government had "bought" - or created and paid for - 240,000 jobs by the end of last year.Hiring people as nurses or home care providers for the aged will have the additional benefit of helping the government deal with the city's rapidly aging population.By the end of last year, the city's unemployment rate was 4.4 percent.And a new law that is in the pipeline is expected to improve employment services.
