Xi lauds neighbor for sticking to its path of socialism
Xi's visit to Laos will be the first visit in 11 years by a Chinese head of state to the neighbor, and he will attend a ceremony to lay the cornerstone for a China-assisted project, Chen said.
Xi also called for earnest efforts to raise the level of military exchanges and security cooperation to enhance mutual trust between the two militaries and safeguard regional security and stability.
Xi will deliver a speech at the APEC CEO Summit later this afternoon, and attend a dialogue with representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council, as well as an informal dialogue with leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Xi said that during the visit he and Bounnhang, also general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, had agreed to jointly build a community of a shared future with strategic importance for the two countries and planned for cooperation to strengthen synergy of strategies and to achieve mutual benefit.
Wu said that he expected the first batch of methanol to be shipped to China via seaborne carriers by 2019.
