US President Donald Trump is looking forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Germany to continue to build a constructive and results-oriented bilateral relationship, a senior White House official said on Wednesday.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang earlier this month to flesh out details of the denuclearization deal signed by Kim and Trump and met with Kim's key aide.
US officials said that the downgrade decision has been under consideration for some time and was not related to the Hanoi summit, according to the report, adding that the decision was expected to be announced by the United States and South Korea in the next few days.
US Representative Kathy Castor, a Democrat who represents the Tampa area, questioned Jones' dismissal in a press release on Tuesday: "Amidst pressure to 'reopen' the state regardless of data and science, transparency is vital to keeping our neighbors safe and ensuring that they have confidence that our government is reporting honestly," said Castor.
