Xi, Macron vow to expand cooperation, reaffirm support for climate change pact
Xi told participants at the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation: "Either in good times or bad, either on a smooth road or a thorny path, we will uphold the spirit of partnership. ... For we all believe that our people deserve a better world, and Belt and Road cooperation will make the world a better place."
Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province, has been named the happiest cities in the country, according to the latest China's Economic Life Survey.
Xi ruled out the possibility that China would close its doors during the process, saying that the country will instead fully unleash the potential of its domestic demand, enable better connectivity between the domestic and international markets, and better employ the two markets and resources, in order to attain more vigorous and sustainable development.
Xi and Indonesian President Joko Widodo hailed in their meeting the latest advancements in bilateral ties, including signing the memorandum of understanding on boosting joint construction of the China-proposed Belt and Road and the Indonesia-proposed Global Maritime Axis, as well as extending currency swap. They also agreed on strengthening coordination and consultation within the multilateral framework.
Xi said the significance of China-Germany cooperation has long transcended a bilateral scope and is playing an increasingly important role in maintaining world peace and stability as well as promoting common development.

Xi was elected Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang was endorsed as Chinese premier, Li Zhanshu was elected chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Wang Qishan was elected vice president, at the first session of the 13th NPC.
Xi called the Shanghai Cooperation Organization a successful example of the commitment of China and Russia to forging a new type of international relations and a good platform for such efforts.
Xi pledged to strengthen exchanges of experiences in party and state governance in the hope of promoting better development of the two countries' socialist causes.
